Located near the Honolulu International Airport, Moanalua Golf Club is the first golf course in Hawaii. Established in 1898 by Samuel Mills Damon, Moanalua Golf Club is the “Royal & Ancient Home of Hawaii Golf”. The course was conceived by Scottish designer Donald Macintyre. This nine hole layout was designed using the natural slopes of Moanalua Valley and the Moanalua Stream creating many natural hazards throughout the course.
Moanalua Golf Club offers beautiful views and challenging play for golfers of all skill levels. Golfers can get in 18 holes by playing each nine from different tee placements. Rolling Bermuda grass fairways and well-groomed seashore Paspalm greens keep Moanalua Golf Club difficult, yet a fair test of golf. Please see one of our friendly staff members for tips on how to play the course or to inquire about our Club membership which is the best deal on Oahu.
For those who relish in Hawaii’s rich golf history, Moanalua Golf Club offers the unique opportunity to step back through time, being the only Hawaiian golf course in existence from the 19th century. The huge fairway on the third hole once doubled as a polo field and a landing strip for airplanes. Legendary aviator Amelia Earhart actually landed her plane on this fairway!
